From 1969 through 1976 Porsche and VW collaboratively worked on a mid engine sports car together called the 914. It was only available in a two-seat targa configuration with either a 4 or 6-cylinder. Well, we all know where the 6-cylinder cars have gone in value. Unfortunately this is not one of those but this particular unit has been owned by the same family for over 32 years and is claimed to be a three-owner vehicle from new. Purchased new in Cincinnati eventually making its way to Northern MI as a summertime driver. The mileage is believed to be accurate and besides a so-so repaint in the early 1990’s this 914 is very original. Now, I am not going to tell you there is no rust, however the floor pans appear to be very solid as does the front and rear trunk with some surface rust but nothing through. The worst spot is behind front passenger wheel on the leading edge between the pans and rockers. The body itself is also relatively rot free. This car starts perfectly, idles almost immediately and has nice power with smooth shifting and braking. All the lights work as they should and so does the heat. The original radio powers up but no sound. This would be an excellent candidate for a restoration or just drive the wheels off of it as it sits. We co recommend new tires as they seem old and have some cracking. These 914’s are incredibly fun to drive and are only going up in value.
