Zweck is pleased to present this 1978 911SC Targa, customized as a true gentleman’s hot rod.
The project began with a very clean and well-maintained 51K mile SC Targa, to which $65K in tasteful modifications were performed.
The interior features vintage Recaro style sport seats recovered in custom plaid and leather, with door panels and rear seats recovered to match. Full leather was used throughout, including dash and door panel tops. The black MOMO Prototipo was re-wrapped in thick black leather with a custom horn button added, alongside an Ebony 917-style shift knob and OEM short-shift kit. A Porsche Classic Navigation radio was installed along with an upgraded amplifier, speakers, and discreet subwoofer. And the AC blows cold, featuring hidden controls under the dash and an upgraded compressor.
The exterior features customized all-metal bumpers front/rear, with all rubber components removed for a simplified flush appearance (including impact strips, bellows and bumper guards). The lower rocker panels were also deleted with mounting holes filled. Outside of the bumpers and lower rocker areas, all black paint is original and in exceptional condition, with paint correction and ceramic coating performed. A replacement targa top was sourced and recovered in burgundy Sunbrella tweed material, with vinyl three-bar Porsche decals/accents added around the car to match. All exterior metal trims were removed and refinished in semi-gloss silver for a unique appearance. These pieces include the targa bar, windshield/rear glass trims, door/window trims, door handles, H4 headlight rings, wipers, and single matching 1974-style driver’s mirror–replacing the original flag mirror. For a more vintage aesthetic, a set of 15×7 and 15×8 Fuchs were refinished to RSR-look and installed with fresh tires.
Mechanically, the 52K mile Targa has been fully sorted, with recent a recent engine-out service to replace the engine oil cooler. Additional recent work performed includes electronic warmup regulator installation, ignition timing and CO adjustment, lowering and four-wheel alignment, motor and gear oil changes, shifter bushings, muffler, air filter, CDI box, ignition coil and rotor. The clutch, alternator, tie rods, and fuel sender were replaced in the last 12K miles. This Targa even features the original smog air pump–a testament to originality.
This Targa comes with COA, manuals and toolkit.
Driven only 1K miles since completion in 2018–it is ready to be enjoyed.
